Compact, powerful, high-torque: the right gearbox for your winch

No matter what requirements you place on your winch drive, whether you need it for Bucket wheel excavatorsforklifts, cranes, anchor systems or underwater infrastructures: Our X series bevel and helical-bevel industrial gear units and Planetary industrial gear units of the XP series provide the right torque.

In a bucket wheel excavator, for example, the bucket wheel is mounted on an adjustable boom to adjust the cutting height. This is raised and lowered by a hoist winch drive. Large and varying forces act on the bucket wheel boom:

• the dead weight of the boom including bucket wheel, wheel drive, boom conveyor belt and possibly its drive system,
• the weight of the material in the buckets and on the boom conveyor belt
• Contact forces due to the vertical portion of the cutting forces that the rotating bucket wheel exerts on the ground
• Vibrations of the entire system

Winch drives also have to withstand a lot in anchor systems: Loads of up to 275 tons and steel cables with a length of up to 1,500 meters and a diameter of over 60 mm are not uncommon here.
