In vertical mills, the number, shape and arrangement of the grinding rollers vary depending on the manufacturer and the material to be ground. In some cases, up to six grinding rollers are required, as the fed material can be up to 100 mm in size. Depending on the material being fed, outputs of up to 12,000 kW are required, with a throughput of up to 1,200 t/h for coarse material and up to 600 t/h for cement clinker. Our industrial gearbox package reduces the speed of the motor to the required speed of the grinding table and turns the horizontal input axis into a vertical output axis. The industrial gearbox also supports the grinding table, which is mounted on the output disk. The grinding load and the weight of the grinding table are transferred directly to the foundation via the tilting pad thrust bearing and the housing wall. The axial bearing can absorb the static and dynamic grinding forces. To reduce vibrations in the drive system, a flexible coupling is fitted between the motor shaft and the output shaft of the gearbox.
Because the industrial gearboxes have to withstand enormous loads and forces during grinding, they are equipped with a welded or cast steel housing. Our drive solutions for vertical mills are also characterized by their high efficiency and long service life.
