From breakfast rolls and ready-made pizzas to meat, fish and ice cream: spiral freezers ensure that the valuable goods are transported as quickly as possible. quickly, evenly and gently deep frozen. The food industry is subject to extremely strict regulations. The planning of the required drive technology is correspondingly demanding.

Paintwork must not be damaged under harsh conditions, the gearbox bearings must be reinforced and the food-grade oil used as the gearbox oil should be as easy to change as possible.

Last but not least, a particularly wide temperature range must be taken into account for such systems. In freezer mode, the values drop to as low as minus 35° C. In addition to these low temperatures, the system components - and therefore also the drive technology - must be able to withstand temperatures of up to plus 30°C during cleaning without any problems.

Powerful planetary gearboxes with primary gearbox - perfectly matched to the food industry

Our powerful planetary gear units from the P series are the perfect choice for the spiral freezers used in various sizes and capacities depending on the frozen food. With eleven sizes, this product group covers the torque range from 25 to 630 kNm. It is always in demand where considerable masses need to be moved at low speeds.

With a helical bevel gearbox as a preliminary stage, we have designed a drive package that is specially optimized for this application. The reinforced gearbox bearings should also be emphasized. This means that the output shaft is firmly connected to the frame of the conveyor system. In this way, the industrial gearbox solution can also serve as a fixed bearing and is even capable of bearing the entire drum load.

Another advantage is the shared oil chamber for the planetary gearbox and primary gearbox. This enables you as the system operator to change the food-grade oil used at just one point, simply and cleanly.

To enable you to comply with the strict hygiene regulations in the food industry, our drives have a particularly resistant paint finish: optimum surface protection against the harsh ambient conditions and aggressive cleaning agents.

All of this makes an important contribution to ensuring that the sensitive food later reaches the consumer's plate in a hygienically perfect and visually appetizing condition.
