Bucket wheel excavators are always used when large quantities of material have to be processed continuously. One of the main areas of application is therefore in the extraction of lignite. Here, bucket wheel excavators are primarily used to remove overburden from soft rock.
We offer industrial gearbox solutions specially tailored to the requirements of bucket wheel excavators: The lower torques of our planetary gearboxes from the P series. For use in the large bucket wheels, however, they are combined with the helical bevel gearboxes of the X series to form a combined drive solution: Together, these industrial gear units offer unbeatably strong torques that reliably and powerfully drive even buckets with a capacity of over 15 cubic meters. With a large selection of predefined additional equipment, you also gain a high degree of flexibility.
Bucket wheel excavators have to deliver full performance at all times - even under the most extreme conditions. The machines are therefore often designed so that they can even be operated at temperatures as low as -45°C.
Accordingly, their drive technology must be just as powerful and reliable as the bucket wheel excavators. Our P series planetary industrial gearboxes and X series helical bevel gearboxes are particularly robust and are therefore ideal for driving bucket wheel excavators. Their housing has additional surface protection and can therefore withstand even the most adverse environmental conditions.
